Product of The Week - Spinwright Beast Swim Jig x Irukandji 7 & 9inch

Spinwright Recognised a gap in the market for a ultimate big fish lure that used the highest quality components and was built to hold up to the biggest and angriest of fish. We have achieved this by using the best components we could find, quality hooks, wires, blades, skirts and the Irukandji sicario range of plastics. All these working together have created an incredible looking design while being ultra strong.

The Swimjig was designed by us on the back of the success of Swimjig internationally, and the lack of options to suit our big Australian natives we decided to make our own version. We opted to remove the fibre weed guard to allow for better hook up rates while using all the other great benefits of a Swimjig, such as a 30 degree line tie to create roll, a silicone skirt for added bulk and movement, 3d eye paired with a realistic head to fool the most aware fish and built on a X3 spinnerbait hook for incredible strength and long lasting performance, combined with a T shaped hook design and needle sharp point allowing for effortless hook ups, and all in a black nickle finish for a stealthy approach.

Fishing Our Region

Cooby Dam - Cooby has fished reasonably well despite the weather changes over the last month, the fish are quite spread out and not really schooled up in certain spots like usual. Checking the edges of the creek bed around the 35foot mark seems to be the best tip at the moment, in saying that trolling or casting some of the deeper banks like the start of the northern arm and the rock walls either side of the buoy line has been successful, both tn60's and hardbodies like the cooby cobbas has been popular. for the deeper fish amongst the bottom it's still hard to go past small metal blades or soft vibes. As the weather cools even more this week we may see these fish starting to move a little shallower  in front of the sailing club.

Cressbrook Dam - Its been a long time since our Local bass lake has even looked like fishing well, the fish are starting to school up, main lake points in both arms have fish well. 1/4oz blades and 15 to 20gram spoons being the best option, keeping your lure tight to the bottom has been key to getting those larger fish. Big Numbers of smaller fish have been very active but there is bigger fish if you put the time in.

Leslie Dam - Its that time of year where those bigger Cod start becoming more active and working the shallows. Big Baits like the Jackall Giganatrel has already proved popular for some aswell soft swimbaits is another great tool for that shallower water. For the yellow belly fisherman the bite has still been good considering the weather conditions, much the same as other lakes these fish have been sitting very hard on the bottom and close to creek edges or submerged structure, jigging zx40's or the TT switchprawn is by far the best option. For the the bait anglers saltwater yabbies have been the go too.

Moogerah Dam - Despite the filthy water this lake has fished well the majority of the yar and it continues right now, working the flats inside of the timber is your best bet, 15-20ft of water, crankbaits like the HideUp 400 has proved very dominant while other baits like plastics and soft jackalls have also worked well. If your keen for an early run there has been a good edge bite very early, small jerkbaits like the Jackall 67 squirrel and Daiwa double clutch has been popular up shallow. As this is just the start of winter this lake will only get better and those bigger fish will be more active.

Lake Monduran - The consistency of big fish coming out of the lake has been unbelievable over the 6 months, these fish have moved alot shallow compared to recent weeks with the water temp getting down and the fish looking for warmer water, smaller profile lures can make the difference as the weather changes and these fish get less active. The New Jackall 79 flat and the Original 79 squirrel have really proved how good they really are and again becoming the real confidence bait for this lake.
