Fishing Our Region
Cooby Dam - Our Local lake is still fishing well considering the much colder weather as of late, the bank fisherman having very good success on both lures and bait, heavier soft vibes and metal blades working well and saltwater yabbies and worms being popular. Some warmer weather during the week has fired these fish up shallow, casting jackall TN60's and blades to the banks has had good success.
Cressbrook Dam - One day the fishing is red hot, the next these fish are hard to even find, anglers trolling have caught better numbers, covering ground and finding those active fish has been putting more into the boat, otherwise casting spoons and deep cranks to the main lake points has been effective.
Leslie Dam - Leslie has been one of the most consistent lakes of late and it continues with a lot of anglers getting good numbers of fish, the bait fisherman really getting amongst them. Otherwise jigging blades and smaller soft vibes have also worked very well. Good signs up the back end of the lake with a small inflow of water which the cod have been taking advantage of. Targeting these fish with shallower swimbaits and big topwaters.
Wivenhoe Dam - Wivenhoe has been fishing pretty consistent as of late. Searching the flats at billies bay and the rock walls around the dam has been seeing better numbers of fish found. Popular options have been the Nories Wasabi Spoon, Jackall Mask Vibes and the Imakatsu IK 800s. Trolling has seen good numbers of fish being caught as well using RMG Poltergeists and Little rippers 18+.Saltwater yabbies and live worms being the best bait.
Copeton Dam - Week by week the reports are getting better, recent flow in the lake ha really fire these fish up especially around that last new moon, that being said the top end of the lake has fished well with good numbers of fish being found amongst the shallow water, soft swimbaits like the Irukandji Sicario in the 9 and 11 inch has been hard to beat, weighted correctly this bait can be deadly in any depth of water.
