Fishing Our Region
Cooby Dam - It’s been another fantastic week on our little lake, the bank fishing has been very popular with anglers as the days have been a little windier. Saltwater Yabbies and Live worms being the best option for this, heading towards the lookout amongst the deeper water has been successfull. Other anglers have still had some very good days working the deeper water off the points, targeting submerged structure with either Soft vibes and ZX Blades, jigging these lures tight to the bottom is key.
Leslie Dam - Our most consistent lake all through out last year and the bite continues now. Some unbelievable fishing by a lot of anglers with some catching up to 50 fish in a sesssion if not more. The old faithful ZX Blade has been the standout bait yet again with soft vibes like the Zerek Fishtrap and Samaki vibelicious proving there worth aswell. The fish are holding in numerous spot all around the lake the mouth of Sandy Creek has been popular and the submerged trees around the dam wall has also been very good. For the keen bait anglers Live Worms have been getting plenty of Silver Perch around the banks.
Somerset Dam - It’s been all about the late afternoon bite lately and with good reason these fish know when the boat traffic is quiet. The majority of fish are holding on the southern end of Pelican Point, again the Hot Bite spectre has been the lure of choice. Keeping this bait tight to the bottom is key.
Moogerah - Still fishing quite well but with the lake being very popular over the school holidays the fish have been a little trickier to temp some days. The flats amongst the Timber before the 6knot zone is holding plenty of fish. Hot Bite Spectres, Jackall TN60’s and smaller Crankbait’s has caught been very popular. Anglers Trolling have also caught their fair share of fish aswell, deep diving hardbodies like the Little Rippers and the HIDEUP range of Crankbaits have been working well.
Bjelkie Peterson - Great to see this lake back online again, Reports are starting to come in of good bass starting to school up, the larger predominant points in the basin are worth a look. Bass point has been poplar aswell as the larger point out from the wall. Metal blades and spinnerbaits have been getting consistent catches. The Banks are also worth fishing with Lipless crankbaits, compact spinnerbaits and chatterbaits
Glenlyon - It’s great to see the water settling and fish starting to Bite, Good numbers of smaller cod have been on the Bite aswell as plenty of Yellow Belly being caught amongst the Shallower timbered areas. Jigging Blades close in to the structure has been best. After last years rain event it’s heating up to be the best winter yet.
