Fishing Our Region

Cooby Dam - There is an abundance of shrimp around Cooby at the moment with the healthy weed beds the shrimp are in big numbers. Anglers who are getting some live shrimp from the lake at having huge success with them. Big numbers of good sized yellowbelly in the deeper water. Still a few fish coming on blades in the deep also and salt water yabbies are still working well.
Leslie Dam - Plenty of great fishing at Leslie day again fishing the deeper water around the edges of the creek bed and down near the dam wall. Soft vibes and blades have worked really well along with salt water yabbies. Good number of decent sized yellowbelly but not to many cod seen lately.
Moogerah Dam - One of the best fishing bass lakes all this year and it continues to deliver with plenty of nice bass on offer. The beauty of moogerah is its versatility you can catch fish around the trees on Jackalls and bibbed hard bodily lures and still find schools out in the deep to fish spoons and jigs. Although with the warmer weather now the skiers will makes the weekends quite busy.
Gold Coast - Lots of hype around the inshore fishing in Gold Coast lately with lots of fish around the sea way and up the back of wave break island. The wind has been the main issue but it’s keeping a lot of anglers off the water which is better for the ones who brave it.
Awonga Dam - With Monduran the go to place at the moment awonga and Callie dam are going under the radar. The fishing hasn’t been as good but with the less fishing pressure it could definitely be an option. Awonga is super clear at the moment so during the day you want to target the thick weed beds with seedless plastics then there is a hot night time bite especially around last light the fish are moving out of the weed beds to feed. Slow rolling soft plastics like molix and squidgies is best.
