Product Of The Week - Thready Buster Soft Swimbait 140
The Thready Buster Swimbait is a new plastic and is proving dominant on our Barra Impoundments. Weighing in at 45grams making this bait is very versatile in either shallow or deep situations. Made up a super durable soft plastic means this bait will last a whole lot longer than others. It’s huge Body roll and colour selections that just screams Barramundi!

Fishing Our Region
Cooby Dam - OPEN. It’s been some amazing fishing on Cooby of the first week of opening. With good healthy yellow belly being caught. The majority of the fish have come on lures working the shallower edges. Either casting Jackall’s in some brighter colours or trolling shallow running hardbodies. The bait fisherman have had some success on saltwater yabbies and Live worms.
Cressbrook Dam. - A lot of fish about but none of great size, metal blades, Jackall’s and spinnerbaits getting the bites, out from the boat ramp is holding great numbers of smaller fish. Some larger fish were caught fishing towards the shallower edges of the lake. Trolling the rock walls with TN60’s and Little Rippers have accounted for some good Yellow Belly.
Leslie Dam - This lake is on fire and everyone is continuing to land huge amounts of fish. 15-20 ft of water still seems to be the manic numbers. Either jigging ZX blades or soft vibes has been successful. For the bait anglers saltwater yabbies and worms have been dynamite on some good sized fish either from the bank or boat.
Boondooma Dam - Boondooma has fished consistent again with both bass and yellow belly being caught. Targeting the rockier banks with metal blades and soft Jackall’s have been the standout, these fish are feeding up on shrimp and smaller red claw so imitating these baits are key. Other anglers have had success jigging metal blades amongst the structure in the Boyne and Stuart arms of the lake.
Lake Monduran - With the cooler weather settling in we are seeing the large fish beginning to bite with not many fish being caught under the meter mark.
Look for submerged grass and weeded bays as these fish are staying in shallow amongst the warmer water. The ever faithful Squidgie slick rig and Molix 140 are still the red hot lures.
