Fishing Our Region
Cooby - Good reports this week and some much better weather letting anglers hit the water, the bank fisherman have had plenty of success with a lot of big Jew fish being caught, live worms always the go too bait for these, good quality yellow belly also being caught amongst them. Other anglers working outside the weed edges in front of the sail club have had plenty of good sessions, vertically jigging blades while drifting has been popular, this time of year you really have to be on the move to find those active fish. Deeper areas towards the Buoy line and rock wall has also been popular, for the lure fisherman Old faithful Zx blades have worked yet again and for the bait anglers saltwater yabbies proving to be the best.
Leslie - Leslie still fishing unbelievably well this week, forget about the shallow water at the moment and concentrate on Isolated structure on the edges of the creek bed. Zx40 doing the majority of the damage as well as soft vibes.
A few Anglers putting in the time have been rewarded with some Solid Cod, Swimbaits, Topwater and Larger chatterbaits getting consistent bites.
Somerset - Another good week on Somerset, a lot of fish still schooled up on Pelican Point, plenty of smaller fish willing to eat a spoon or plastic. The edge fishing is also worth a try, Suspending Jerkbaits on the Shallower banks has had positive results, The top end of Kirkleigh has been popular for this.
Saratoga are also becoming a frequent catch at Somerset, good numbers of these fish have been located amongst the timber and also the smaller bays in the basin, either jerkbaits or lipless crankbaits have been effective.
Moogerah - The Winter bite at Moogerah is back, good schools of fish are starting to show up in the common areas, Larger predominant points in the basin and inside the timber is holding very good numbers. Plastics like the ever faithful Slider grub are hard to go past for this lake.
Glenlyon - Great reports coming in from Glenlyon the past few weeks and it continues as the weather cools, these big fish are moving shallow ambushing anything they can fit in their mouth, The Jackall Gigantarel proves dominant yet again as well as Big Topwater Baits like the Ballista Tremor.
Jumpinpin -Plenty of local anglers having heading down while the fishing is red hot, plenty of Flathead, bream getting about, For the bream fishos the deeper channels around Crusoe and Short Island, The tailor are heading north and are in Good numbers around the Jumpinpin Bar at the present time, any small metal slug or soft plastic will get there attention.
