Fishing Our Region

Cooby Dam - Unfortunately at this stage closed to all water based activities. Current testing guidelines are in review and the lake will open at the end of march and have less strict guidelines which will mean open a lot more going forward.

Cressbrook
- Cressbrook has again fished reasonably well this week, with the fish that have been caught have been of great size, though unfortunately the bite window has been short. The afternoons being the best time to be on the water. This week we have seen a lot more fish being caught on spoons in the deeper water. working the predominant points in the Bull Creek arm and the larger points around deer island. There's been great reports of alot of Red Claw on the move will most anglers getting plenty. Look for the deeper weed around 12-15ft.

Leslie - Another Fantastic week on Leslie with a huge number of fish caught, with the majority of fish being on the smaller side there's still plenty of good ones to be caught. The lure fishing has been red hot and catching the better quality of fish. Zx Blades, Zerek Fish Traps and Jackall Mask vibes getting some good results. Bait anglers also had very good success, Saltwater Yabbies and Prawns being popular.

Lake Dyer
- This little lake has produced some very good quality fish, Both Bass and Yellowbelly have been caught with some good sized silver perch as well. With the water being a little dirty the bait fisherman getting better catches, saltwater Yabbies and live shrimp will be your best chance. Trolling has also been effective amongst the deeper water, keeping your lure tight to the bottom is a must.

Somerset
- Red Hot again this week with plenty of quality fish being caught, The southern end of pelican point has remained to hold big amounts of fish. The Hot Bite Spectre has produced good numbers of fish again, hoping or slow winding these across the bottom has held accountable for some very good sessions. While spoons and heavily weighted plastics has produced better numbers than previous weeks. Anglers trolling these same areas has also been rewarding, Little Rippers and The Barambah Baby Perch is a good option for this technique.

Boondooma - With the water clearing week by week we are starting to see some good results. The majority of the fish that have been caught have been up shallower in the clearer water, Targeting these fish with reaction style baits like Spinnerbaits and Lipless crankbaits. The bait fishing has also been quite good amongst the timber, Saltwater yabbies being the best option.

Monduran
- Some very good fishing is on at our closest Barra lake with some very big fish caught, multiple fish over the magic meter have been landed over the last week. The shallow Points and bays in the B arms is holding good amounts of fish. The old faithful Molix 140 and Squidgie slick rig has been the standout bait while there also has been a good jerkbait bite targeting the suspended fish amongst the treetops. Trolling anglers have been catching cricket scores of fish out in the main basin, Barra classics and the RT Smashas hardbodies have been very successful.
