Fishing Our Region

Cooby Dam - With the weather cooling down we are seeing more fish caught up in the shallower water. Using ZX40s and soft vibes have been popular choices. Targeting structure on the bottom has been key. Trolling the rock walls and weed beds has also been popular using Stumpjumpers and Cooby Cobbas. Saltwater Yabbies and live worms have been the go to bait.

Cressbrook Dam -Cressbrook has been fishing quite well as of late. Targeting deeper points and rock walls have been having the most success using Blades, Spoons and Soft Plastics have been popular choices. Trolling the deeper water along the banks has been the go to, Using Smak Blitz Bagas and RMG poltergeists has had the most success.

Leslie Dam - No different to recent weeks Leslie is fishing well. Targeting the structure on the bottom such as trees or rocks has been popular. Using ZX40s and Soft Vibes have been successful. As for the trolling anglers targeting the edges of the creekbed has been getting the bites using Little Rippers 18+ and Kezza Mudmouses. Saltwater Yabbies and Prawns have been the go to bait.

Somerset Dam - Some really good bass being landed lately around the pelican point area. fishing deep diving hard bodies around the rocky banks has caught some good fish but the larger fish are still out in the deeper water, chatterbaits and spinnerbaits have worked well in the deeper water. For bait fishing Live worms and live shrimp are the best bet.

Pindari Dam - a lake that sneaks under the radar Pindari has produced some good fishing lately. while its known for large yellowbelly there has been plenty of good sized cod landed in around the trees. both hard bodies and spinnerbaits have been good and there is still a good bu-catch of yellowbelly if you down size the lures or fishing jackall TN60's. Salt water yabbies have also been dynamite around the timber.

Monduran Dam - The barra are still biting but like we have seen for the last few months the smaller fish have been far more interested than the bigger ones. This has seen a change in tactics with smaller baits working the best. The 120mm Molix shad has been a stand out lately along with the 110mm slick rig. dropping the bait size down has increased the numbers of those 60-70 cm barra.
